Tasty And Easy To Cook Gulab Jamun Recipe Step By Step
Gulab jamun is an classic Indian sweet made of milk solids. They can be made using either mawa or milk powder. Plain flour or maida is also used to bind the milk solids.gulab jamuns are often made during festivals.
Gulab Jamun is a traditional dessert that is popular in South Asian countries such as India and Pakistan.
Ingredients:
1 cup milk powder
¼ cup all-purpose flour / maida
1 ½ tbsp. Unsalted butter or ghee at room temperature
1 pinch of Baking soda
60 ml of milk (at room temperature, adjust slightly as needed while kneading, I just used little to make the dough right)
Ghee / oil for deep frying
For sugar syrup:
1 ¼ cups Sugar
1 cup water
¼ tsp cardamom powder
Few drops of rose essence (optional)
few strands of saffron (optional)
Instructions:
*Sieve milk powder, flour and baking powder twice for uniform mixing.
*Transfer the mix to a bowl, add butter or ghee and mix well. Add few tbsps. Of milk at one time and knead. Continue adding milk little by little to make a uniform, smooth and firm dough. Use only as needed.
*Add sugar and water in a wide utensil and bring it a boil.
*Add cardamom powder and then reduce the heat to low and continue to boil it reaches a 1 string consistency. Set aside.
*Divide the dough into 12 to 13 equal parts. Roll them to smooth balls. They should be free from any cracks and lines else they do not look good and sometimes even they disintegrate while frying. If you feel they have cracks and cannot smoothen them, just sprinkle very little milk and roll the dough once more.
*Heat oil or ghee in a deep fry pan. Reduce the flame to medium, fry these balls few at a time evenly till they turn golden. To get them evenly browned, avoid crowding the balls in the fry pan. I usually take a long stain less steel chop stick place it in the center of the fry pan and stir it around the pan without touching the jamun. I do this few times for each batch. This way I feel they are beautifully fried evenly.
*Drop these fried balls in the sugar syrup, let them soak for at least 3 to 6 hrs. Garnish gulab jamun with chopped pistachios if desired.
Step By Step Recipy:
1.Heat the sugar, water, cardamom, saffron, and rosewater in a pan for 5 minutes. Stir the ingredients well to combine them. Do not overheat it, or the syrup will turn into caramel. If it does begin to caramelize, though, all you have to do is to add a bit of water, stir the ingredients together, and heat it up again.
2.Turn off the heat. Set the syrup aside you'll need it later when you have to soak the dough balls in it. Alternately, you can keep it warm over very low heat.
3.Combine the milk powder, Bisquick, and butter. Stir these ingredients well in a bowl to fully combine them. You should melt the butter a bit first to make it easier to combine. These ingredients will add a unique texture to this tasty dessert.
4.Add the whole milk to the dry ingredients until the dough becomes firm. Continue to stir the ingredients until you create a nice thick and creamy substance. If the dough is still not creamy enough, keep adding a bit more milk until the dough is smooth and creamy.
5.Divide the dough into 20 portions. This doesn't have to be exact, and not every portion has to be identical. Just try to pinch out roughly twenty portions of dough, which you will then roll into balls. Try to make each ball smaller than a small lime. They will become larger when you deep fry them, and you don't want them to be too big.
6.Roll each portion into a ball. Just take each portion and roll it into a ball using one hand to roll it in your other palm, or rolling it on an even surface like a cutting board. Try to make the balls as smooth as possible because cracks will make the Jamuns disintegrate when they're soaked in syrup. To make them as smooth as possible, you can grease your palms with oil or ghee while you make the balls. When you've finished, place them on a plate and get ready to fry them.
7.Heat the oil on high. When it's hot, reduce the heat to low to medium. You can use regular vegetable oil, or create a 50/50 combination using vegetable oil and ghee. You'll need to keep the heat on low to medium to keep the oil from sputtering too much.
8.Slip the balls one at a time into the hot oil from the side of the pan. Be careful when you're working with hot oil; stand back from the pan to steer clear of sputtering oil. You can use a spatula or a slotted spoon to lower each ball into the oil.
9.Let the dough balls sink to the bottom of the pan. This is a part of the process do not try to move them. They will rise to the surface on their own.
10.Fry the dough balls for about three minutes. Keep turning them so they are evenly cooked on all sides. You may not want to cook more than a handful of them at a time; otherwise, they may get crowded, bringing down the temperature of the oil and getting soggy. Make sure that all sides have browned evenly and remove each dough ball from the oil. A slotted spoon is best for this, because it helps get rid of the excess oil.
11.Place the dough balls on a paper towel. This will help absorb the excess oil. You can even gently pat the dough balls with a paper towel.
12.Heat the syrup on low. You can either heat it again, or just have had it heated on low during the whole cooking process.
13.Transfer the warm syrup to a serving bowl. You can use any deep dish, bowl, or tray for this process.
14.Lower the Gulab Jamun into the syrup for at least 1-2 hours. Make sure that the dough balls are completely absorbed in the syrup. Some people even like to let them soak in the syrup overnight to let them fully absorb the syrup.
15.Serve. Once the Gulab Jamun have soaked in the syrup for a long enough time, they are ready to eat. You can add a garnish of slivers of pistachios before you serve them. You can enjoy them on their own or with some vanilla ice cream or yogurt. They are best served warm, though they can be tasty when they're cold, too. If you have any left over, you can let them sit in the fridge, covered with plastic wrap, for up to a week.
Notes:
If any of the gulab jamun balls have cracked while frying, soak them separately else it will mess up the entire syrup, you can see tiny pieces of mix in the syrup
Do not fry the balls in smoky hot ghee or oil, as it burns the gulab jamun balls and the inner part will not be cooked.
Always use enough oil or ghee to fry. The balls must be dunked in the oil else they come out shapeless with uneven color.

10 Quick Tips For Treating Kids With a Cold or Flu
Many parents used to head straight to the drug aisle of their local pharmacy when their child would get the sniffles. But the American Academy of Pediatrics warns that over-the-counter medications to treat coughs and colds aren't safe for children under 2 and may not work or could seriously harm children under 6.
Whether your child has a cough, a cold, or the flu, you can try these gentle, effective, and safe home remedies. A cold or flu usually takes about ten days to run its course. While none of these home remedies will shorten your child's illness, they may help him feel a lot better.
Flu symptoms can cause a world of misery, from fever and cough to sore throat, nasal congestion, aches, and chills. But there are ways to feel better.
Prescription antiviral drugs may ease symptoms of the flu when taken shortly after you get sick. In many cases, however, simple home remedies may be all you need for relief of mild to moderate flu symptoms.
Natural remedies for the flu:-
1.Lots of rest (all ages)
How it helps
It takes energy to fight an infection, and that can wear a child (or an adult) out. When your child's resting, he's healing, which is exactly what he needs to do.
Studies show that stress plays a role in illness, too. If your child is under pressure – because of school or friends, or something happening at home giving him a break may be just what he needs to fight off his symptoms.
What you need?
A comfortable place for your child to rest and things to occupy him.
How to do it:
Now's the time to let your child watch that favorite video or television program one more time. Or bring him a new set of crayons and paper or coloring book. Even a puzzle can be manageable in bed.
Of course, a bed isn't necessarily the best place to rest. Sometimes a change of scenery is helpful. If the weather is good, set up a comfortable place in the yard or on the porch for your child to rest. Indoors, fashion something more fun than his bed like a tent in the living room or a snug, pillow-filled area near you.
If your child finds it hard to rest, help him by cuddling up with some books. Teach him some finger rhymes (like "The Itsy Bitsy Spider") or tell stories together. Or bring him the phone so he can chat with Grandma or a friend.
2.Drink up.
The flu can leave you dehydrated, especially if have vomiting or diarrhea. So be sure to get enough fluids. Water is fine. So are fruit juices, soda, and electrolyte beverages. You may want to stay away from caffeinated drinks, because caffeine is a diuretic. Herbal tea with honey can soothe a sore throat. If you feel nauseated, try taking small sips of liquids gulps might cause you to throw up. How can you be sure you’re getting enough fluid? Your urine should be pale yellow, almost colorless.
How about drinking alcohol? No way. “When you have the flu, the last thing you want to do is drink alcohol,” says MD, chairman of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine“It makes you sleepy, and flu does that already.”
3.Steamy air (all ages)
How it helps
Breathing moist air helps loosen the mucus in the nasal passages. A warm bath has the added benefit of relaxing your child.
What you need
A humidifier, cool-mist vaporizer, or steamy bathroom.
Be sure to clean humidifiers often and according to the manufacturer's directions. Humidifiers accumulate mold, which they then spray into the air if they're not kept scrupulously clean.
How to use it
Have a humidifier or a cool-mist vaporizer going in your child's bedroom when she's sleeping, resting, or playing in the room.
Give your child a warm bath in a steamy bathroom. Let a hot shower run for a few minutes before getting the tub ready for your child. If she's old enough, let her play in the bath as long as she likes supervised, of course, unless she's old enough to hang out on her own.
For children over the age of 2, adding a few drops of menthol to the bath water (or vaporizer) may also help her feel less congested. Menthol oil is available at most natural food stores.
If it's not a convenient time for a bath, simply turn on the hot water in the tub or shower, close the bathroom door, block any gap under the door with a towel, and sit in the steamy room with your child for about 15 minutes. (Bring a couple of books.)
4.Saline drops and bulb syringes (all ages)
How it helps
Drops clear the nose when kids are too young to blow their nose. For babies, a bulb syringe really comes in handy if a stuffy nose interferes with breastfeeding or bottle-feeding. Try using it about 15 minutes beforehand.
Clearing a stuffy nose with a bulb syringe works best for young babies, but if your older baby or child doesn't mind the procedure, there's no reason not to do it.
What you need
A rubber bulb syringe
Saline (salt water) solution. You can buy bottles of saline nose drops at a drugstore or make your own.
Saline nose drops or spray for children 2 and older are available at pharmacies without a prescription. You also can prepare saline drops at home.
Recipe for homemade saline drops: Dissolve about 1/2 teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water. Make a fresh batch each day and store it in a clean, covered glass jar. Bacteria can grow in the solution, so don't keep it for more than 24 hours.
How to use it
Tip your child's head back or lay her on her back with a rolled-up towel supporting her head. Squeeze two or three drops of saline solution into each nostril to thin and loosen the mucus. Try to keep her head still afterward for about 30 seconds (or less for a baby).
Squeeze the bulb of the syringe, then gently insert the rubber tip into her nostril. Some doctors recommend also gently closing off the other nostril with your finger to get better suction from the bulb syringe.
Slowly release the bulb to collect mucus and saline solution.
Remove the syringe and squeeze the bulb to expel the mucus into a tissue.
Wipe the syringe and repeat with the other nostril.
Repeat procedure if necessary.
Don't suction your child's nose more than a few times a day or you might irritate its lining. Don't use the saline drops for more than four days in a row, because they can dry out her nose over time, making things worse.
You can also use the bulb syringe without saline to help remove mucus. Squeeze the bulb to force out air, gently insert the tip in her nostril, and slowly let the air out of the bulb to draw in mucus. Remove the bulb and squeeze any mucus onto a tissue.
If your baby is really upset by the syringe, use the saline drops and then gently swipe the lower part of her nostrils with a cotton swab. Be careful not to insert the swab inside her nostrils. This method doesn't have the suction of the syringe, but it's better than nothing!
5.Sip some soup.
For generations, caring parents have been serving chicken soup to kids with colds and flu. But was mom right? Possibly. A study published in the journal Chest showed that chicken soup may help with symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections like the flu.
“I believe that chicken soup does help with symptoms,” says professor of family medicine at East Tennessee State University. But not all doctors agree that chemistry alone explains the soup’s apparent benefits. “When you lean over a bowl of hot chicken soup and the vapor gets up your nose, you feel better,” Schaffner says. “But some [of the benefit] is clearly emotional. It just makes you feel better having someone make soup for you.”
6.Vapor rubs (3 months and up)
How it helps
Vapor rubs may help kids sleep better at night. Many of us remember being rubbed with a potent eucalyptus, camphor, and menthol vapor rub when we were sick as children. Research suggests that these ingredients actually have no effect on nasal congestion, but they make the cold sufferer feel as though she's breathing better by producing a cooling sensation in the nose.
What you need
You can now find vapor rub products made specifically for babies 3 months and older. This baby-safe version of the familiar commercial rub contains petrolatum, oils, and eucalyptus. It doesn't have camphor or menthol, which shouldn't be used with children younger than 2.
Natural vapor balms are available, too, if you'd prefer not to use products that contain petroleum or paraben. These are typically made with aloe, herbs, oils, beeswax, and essential oils. Search online for "baby rub," "baby vapor rub," or similar words.
You can also find recipes to make your own rub. Try searching for "vapor rub recipe natural" or something similar.
How to do it
Massage the vapor rub into your child's chest, neck, and back.
Cautions
Don't put vapor rub on broken or sensitive skin or apply it to your child's mouth or nose, around her eyes, or anywhere on her face.
7.Elevating the head (12 months and up)
How it helps
Elevating your child's head while she rests can help her breathe more comfortably.
What you need
Towels or pillows to raise the head of the mattress, or pillows to raise your toddler or older child's head.
How to do it
If your child sleeps in a crib, place a couple of towels or a slim pillow underneath the head of the mattress on the crib springs. Don't try to raise the legs of the crib. It could make the crib unstable.
If your child sleeps in a big bed, an extra pillow under her head might do the trick. But if she's at all squirmy while she sleeps, it's safer to raise the head of the bed by sliding towels or a pillow underneath the mattress. This also creates a more gradual, comfortable slope than extra pillows under her head.
Another option: Let your child sleep in her car seat. Like many adults who sleep in a favorite recliner when they're ill, she may rest better in a semi-upright position. In fact, if your grade-schooler needs propping while she sleeps, she may slumber more comfortably in a recliner.
Cautions
Whether it's a crib or a bed, don't overdo it. If your child's a restless sleeper, she might flip around so that her feet are higher than her head, defeating the purpose.
8.Honey (12 months and up)
How it helps
Honey coats and soothes the throat and helps tame a cough.
In a study conducted by Pennsylvania State University's College of Medicine, parents of 105 children ages 2 to 18 rated honey helpful and better than cough syrup for treating children's nighttime coughs.
What you need
Honey, available at any grocery store.
Honey often gets hard at room temperature. To soften it, spoon some into a heat-proof container and warm it briefly in a microwave or boil some water and then set the container in the very hot water for five or ten minutes.
Your child must be at least a year old to try this remedy.
How to use it
Give her 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of honey.
Some people mix their honey with hot water and add a squeeze of lemon, which provides a little vitamin C along with the soothing honey.
Because honey is a sticky sweet, it's important for you or your child to brush her teeth after she takes it, especially if you give it to her at bedtime.
Cautions
Don't give honey to a child before her first birthday. It can cause a rare and sometimes fatal illness called infant botulism. Find out more.
9) Nose blowing (2 years and up)
How it helps
Clearing the nose of mucus helps your child breathe and sleep more easily and generally makes him feel more comfortable. And he'll be nicer to look at, too!
What you need
A container of soft tissues.
How to do it
Many kids don't master this skill until after age 4, but some are game by age 2.
Tips for teaching nose blowing:
Let your child copy you. For some kids, that's all it takes.
Explain that blowing his nose is "backward smelling."
Have your child hold one nostril shut and practice gently blowing air out one side. A mirror or a little piece of tissue under the nose will help him see his breath, too.
Teach him to blow gently. Blowing too hard can hurt his ears. Give your child his own little package of fun tissues.
Teach him to discard used tissues in the trash can and to wash his hands after blowing his nose.
Be sure he knows not to rub his eyes after blowing his nose so he doesn't end up with an eye infection.
Teach him good hygiene by having him wash his hands or use a hand sanitizer gel so he doesn't spread germs.
If your child's nose is sore from all the sniffling and blowing, you can rub a little petroleum jelly or other child-safe ointment around his nostrils.
Find out more about when your child will be old enough to blow his own nose and how to teach him.
10.Gargling with salt water (4 years and up)
How it helps
Gargling with salt water is a time-honored way to soothe a sore throat. It also helps clear mucus from the throat. While scientists haven't determined exactly why it works, studies have shown that the remedy is effective.
What you need
Warm salt water.
Simply combine 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and stir. If your child doesn't mind the taste, a squirt or two of fresh lemon juice can be a soothing addition.
Your child must be old enough to learn to gargle. For many kids, that means school age or older. But some children can manage it sooner.
How to do it
Aim for gargling three or four times a day while your child is sick. Only have a younger child gargle if he's willing and it makes him feel better.
A few tips for teaching your child to gargle:
Practice with plain water.
Tell your child to tilt his head up and try to hold the water in the back of his throat without swallowing it.
Once he's comfortable doing that, have him try to make sounds with his throat. Show him what that looks and sounds like.
Teach him to spit out the water rather than swallow it.
10 Foundation Mistakes Avoid During Cold Weather
Incorrect foundation application is a major makeup faux . Foundation makes a massive difference in overall makeup. To understand the right technique of achieving a flawless face.
1.Choosing the wrong shade:-
Nothing to be embarrassed about, most people make this mistake, even I did. I tell you nobody stays happy in this world. While most white beauties struggle to look more tanned, us medium skinned ladies wish they could be whiter and more western-looking.
If you’re someone with that set of mind, chances are you’ll pick a much lighter shade of foundation in an attempt to look fair. DON’T DO THAT! You don’t want to end up looking as if you’re wearing a mask, do you? A wrong shade can make your makeup detectable and unnatural.
Go for a shade that matches your skin tone exactly. While choosing a shade, apply some on your jaw line and blend. If your foundation is visible and you can see a lighter or a darker patch then it’s just not the right shade for you. Pick a shade that blends seamlessly with your skin and nobody can tell if you’re wearing foundation at all.
We have another problem at hand. Unfortunately, we are not blessed with expert sales assistants standing at makeup counters in Pakistan. They will misguide you mostly. Don’t listen to them. Bring a friend/sister along to help in deciding the right color for you. Also, don’t be fooled by the lights around you. Go outside and check yourself in the mirror in natural light. That’s the only way you can be 100% sure of your match.
2.Sellecting the wrong type:
I don’t really understand the desire for picking a full coverage foundation. I get plenty of emails by girls wanting to suggest a full coverage foundation. If you’re not a model or working for TV, you don’t need heavy coverage on your face. Brides require full coverage since like models and celebrities; they have to spend time under lights and look absolutely flawless for that one night of their lives. For a daily use, light to medium coverage is just about enough.
There are other things to consider too.
*Dry/Normal skin type:
You need something to hydrate your face. Steer clear of anything that enhances dryness on your face. In your case, a liquid foundation especially made for your skin is the one you should be looking for. For a light and easy coverage, tinted moisturizers or BB creams will do.
*Combination/Oily skin type:
You too can wear a liquid foundation but be careful to pick one formulated for your skin that would help prevent excessive oil at bay. Go for a powder foundation preferably mineral based if liquid feels heavy.
There are many other types out there too (cream, mousse, mineral). Remember to select a texture that works for your skin.
3.Picking the wrong undertone:
We Pakistani’s generally have a warm skin tone i.e. either we have peach or golden undertones. A general rule of thumb is to pick a yellow-based foundation. There’s a myth going around among Pakistani girls that wearing a pink based foundation will make you look bright and pink. That’s not true! Applying a pink based foundation on warm skin may end up looking ashy. Even if you have picked the right shade of foundation but with wrong undertone, it will just look off on you.
You want a pinky glow? Pink based foundation is not your answer. You just need a pink blusher and a highlighter. In case you want an instant radiance, pick a pink-hued corrector/primer to vanish dull, sallow skin.
4.Applying too much:
In an effort to look impeccable, you can easily over do foundation and end up looking like a “cake face”. This can also clog pores and create skin problems. Use a concealer to hide any imperfections on your face.
5.Dont just apply ,blendi:
Whether it’s a cosmetic sponge, your fingers or a kabuki brush, it doesn’t matter what you choose to apply your foundation with. The key is to blend your foundation properly. Not blending properly ends in making a visible demarcation line across the jaw that looks horrible. Start by applying on one side of the face to the other and blending all the way to the neck and hair line. Skipping the neck is a bad idea; you don’t want your face looking different than your neck.
6.Skipping a primer or a moisturizer:
Always moisturize before wearing foundation. This will help foundation go on smoothly without clinging to the dry parts of your face. There’s a myth that if you have an oily skin, you don’t need to moisturize. That’s incorrect! Even oily skin needs its share of hydration. If you keep on stripping off oil from your skin using those oil-busting products all the time, you may over activate your sebaceous glands (oil producing glands) resulting in even more oil floating on your face.
Primers too help in smooth application. Not just that, it also prevents your foundation from getting oxidized i.e. changing color or turning dull. There are two types of primers in the market; hydrating and mattifying. Get one according to your skin’s need.
7.Not setting your foundation:
Setting is as important as priming and moisturizing. To lock in your foundation, set it with a translucent powder. It will not just keep your makeup from sliding off your face but also make it look less shiny and natural.
Avoiding the seven foundation errors that I just mentioned will make a world of difference in your makeup application believe me.
8.Don’t Use Concealer and Foundation Altogether:
As a beauty enthusiast I recommend my clients not to use concealer and foundation simultaneously. Use either of them instead. However, if you can’t go without using both the products, then make sure to apply the foundation first and follow it up with concealer. Blend the both thoroughly into each other to avoid cakey, streaky face.
9.Don’t Fail to Blend the Product Thoroughly:
Remember, meticulous blending is the secret to a tailor-made makeup finish. And an even and smooth blending can only be attained through the right tools like foundation brush or a sponge. Emphasize the blending more on the jaw-line, upper-lip area, around-eye areas, nostrils and the hairline to achieve a perfect foundation look.
10.Don’t Fail to Set the Product Finally:
Setting the foundation product at the end is as important as priming and moisturizing are. Try sealing the foundation in place by dusting a little translucent powder allover. The powder will absorb any excess oil and thus create a matte, more natural finish. In addition, it will keep your makeup from sliding off.
Some Winter Beauty Mistakes You Should Avoid
Winter can be a very tricky season when it comes to Beauty. More often than not, we are too cold to get by the day, let alone have the energy to follow a proper beauty routine. All which result in flaky skin, lifeless hair and dull complexion which leave us feeling less than attractive.
Makeup is one of the most commonly used beauty-enhancement tool used by the ladies. A rightly done makeup hides up any skin imperfections and thus works to enhance the innate beauty of a woman.
When it comes to makeup application, the importance of foundation can’t be overlooked. It can make you look like a diva if used properly or ruins your entire look otherwise. Here I am discussing a few makeup mistakes to avoid so as achieving a radiant look:
1)You Take Long Hot Showers:
When its cold outside, its so tempting to jump into a heated bath or heat up your water to the max and linger under the waters for as long as possible. However, it has been proven that taking hot showers that exceed 15 minutes are very harmful to our skin. Basically because your skin's lipid layer, the one that contains fatty acids that locks in your skin's moister, begins to lose its structure. So try to cool down the water, or do not exceed 10 mins.
2) You Use A Harsh Skin Cleanser:
In Winter time, you cant use an oil-control/strong soap-based cleanser. Simply because it impacts your skin's already-delicate skin moister level. Instead, opt for a creme or milk-based cleansers, such as Clarins Cleansing Milk.
3) You Ignore your Dry Feet:
Feet gets hugely impacted during winter time (Does the term 'Sand-Paper feet' ring a bell?) and are hardly attractive. Instead of waiting out until spring time to fix the damage, you can follow this simple routine during the colder days. Once a wee; Soak your feet in soapy water for 15 mins, then with a foot file buff the soles or apply a scrub. Afterwards, and to help close the cracks, apply a moisturizing balm before sealing it all with a pair of warm socks for the night.
4) You skip your SPF:
Even though the sun might not be as visible as in warmer weather, but the harmful rays are still there. So wear an SPF daily of at least 25 in order to protect our hidden layers and slow down the aging process.
5) You do not drink enough water:
This is by far the most harmful one. In Winter time, water becomes all the more important as our body craves hydration. So make sure you drink between 8-10 glasses per day (Thats almost 2.5-3 Liters) and you will immediately notice the difference on your face.
6) You wear Foundation on Dry Skin:
No matter how great or expensive your foundation is, it will never look good on dry skin. In fact, it will highlight its dryness even more. Instead, opt for a solid skin routine that includes scrubbing once a week (I use Bobbi Brown's Buffing Grains) and moisturizing twice a day. If things are still flaky, try using a Skin Balm 30 minutes before applying your foundation (Also this one from Bobbi Brown worked great for me during my pregnancy).
7) You forget the Lip Balm:
Your lips are very delicate and especially in harsh weather it will require extra attention. In order to have smooth and hydrated lips, try and exfoliate gently using a toothbrush twice a week, and apply immediately a good lip balm. My favorite would contain natural Shea Butter for best natural results.
8) You wear the wrong make up colors:
With a winter complexion, you need to be careful with your color palette. Instead of going for frosty colors (Light blue, white..etc) you need to go for bronze, darker purple or darker metallic such as grey. You can also opt for a thicker eyeliner look with darker lips (Burgundy and Blood red are both hot again this year).
Some Big mistakes that will make your skin age much faster During Cold Weather
1.Using the same moisturizer year round:
The common thinking is that one moisturizer fits all seasons; however, using the same moisturizer in the summer and winter is the top mistake in skin care. The climatic conditions change a lot during the year and they are especially harsh on your skin during the cold and summer seasons: that's when your skin is being most damaged. In fact, winter deserves the title of the 2nd worst enemy of your skin (the sun being the 1st one). Cold and dryness put a lot of stress on your skin because they dehydrate, make your skin vulnerable to damages and trigger inflammation.
Dehydration and inflammation are the main triggers in aging. Therefore, to shield your skin against aging, always upgrade for a richer, more protective and more moisturizing cream during the cold season. Even if your skin is usually oily during the warm season, you should switch to a slightly richer moisturizer during the cold season.
Winter ColdI always recommend Biolift anti-aging cream and Shea butter products during the winter as Shea butter is natural, pure and richly moisturizing, protecting and nourishing. You may also want to look at Apricot Kernel oil and Argan oil as facial night skin treatments because of their high concentration in essential fatty acids (EFAs) (like omega-3 and omega-6) and powerful antioxidants. EFAs are nourishing, healing and regenerating to your skin; they are the ultimate anti-aging ingredients for your skin and your whole body.
2.Using harsh cleansers and body washes:
The vast majority of body washes, soaps and cleansers contain concentrated harsh detergents like sodium lauryl sulfate that strip your skin off its natural protective sebum and may trigger irritation. This ruthless washing leaves your skin dry and vulnerable to the cold, dryness and even infections. It is also the best way to trigger or wake up skin problems like eczema. So Watch out what you use to wash yourself, and choose only gentle organic body washes or pure soaps like organic Marseille Soap or organic Aleppo soap.
3.Not using sunscreen and aftersun care in the winter
Cold Although the sun is much less aggressive during the winter (in the Northern hemisphere), if you go out in the snow for a walk, a sledge party with the kids or skiing, you should ALWAYS be aware of the fact that snow, like water, amplifies the sunlight. Your skin is exposed to damages by the sun as much in the winter as it is in the summer.
Moreover, for those of you who go to the tropics for a winter break, be aware that your body goes through a radical climate change, which is not natural (sorry, Nature didn't intend for us to go from the heart of snowy winter to sunny tropics in just a few hours!). It would actually make sense for you to do a few tanning sessions (in a good tanning salon) to prepare your skin for the sunny vacation. In any case, at home or under the tropics, your skin needs additional sunscreen protection, because it is more vulnerable in the winter.
If the conditions are not too rough, you may even use Raspberry seed oil as a protective moisturizer because it has a broad spectrum anti-UV-A and UV-B protection. Although it is not a pure sunscreen, it is the equivalent of a 28-50 SPF (sun protecting factor). Finally, you need to make sure that you nourish and help your skin to heal with appropriate aftersun care like Argan oil, Apricot oil, Wild Musk Rose oil or Shea butter creams. Failing to use proper aftersun care will accelerate the aging of your skin as much as not using sunscreen. In plain words, you will soon look 10 years older than you are.
4.Using hot water for long baths or showers:
Although hot and long baths and showers are comforting during the cold season, they do have a paradoxical drying effect on your skin and dermatologists always advise against hot water for a long time during the winter. Instead, use slightly less hot water or shower/bath for a shorter time; afterwards, ALWAYS moisturize your skin (face AND body) after. An organic lotion like the organic anti-aging Tocophea Body Lotion or the rich and healing Shea butter lotion are perfect to moisturize, protect and nurture your skin. If you have a very dry and sensitive skin, you will love the ultra richRose Shea butter on your body for extra nourishment and anti-aging protection.
5.Not protecting your lips, hands and body:
We have just seen how important it is to moisturize your body. But think of your lips and hands: they are, with your face, the most exposed to the harsh climate and dehydration (and eating and drinking and talking and washing a lot).
Truth is, you can always read the real age of a woman by looking at her hands. You may choose to facelift your face, but no one does surgery on hands and it is often a neglected part of the body in the beauty ritual.
Same thing for the lips: they easily get damaged and wrinkled because they are so exposed. Both need protection. For both the lips and hands, we recommend pure Shea butter creams while for the hands, you should also consider our easy-to-use and silky softHand and Nail cream, the nourishing and anti-agingArgan oil or Perilla oil.
6.Not monitoring the humidity level at home:
Last year, our central humidifier broke down without us realizing it. Not only my skin was a nightmare of dryness and itchiness, but our heating bill also went up a lot. Low humidity causes static electricity, dry skin and hair, and itching and chapping.
The nose and throat dry out, increasing your discomfort and susceptibility to colds and respiratory illness. With low humidity levels, body moisture evaporates so quickly that you feel chilled even at higher thermostat settings. Adding a humidifier to your home will remedy these problems. The recommended humidity level inside your home should be between 35-40% to be comfortable for you. You may also want to get green indoor plants to purify the air and add moisture, as plants are great de-polluters.
7.Putting on a lot of makeup:
ColdYes! You read it right; putting a lot of make-up can make your skin age faster because it blocks the pores, prevents your skin from breathing and may even contain toxic chemicals that intoxicate your skin. I have seen so many women, young or old, trying to cover up the flaws of their skin with tons of foundation and concealer and powder.
The result is NEVER what they hope for and pretty scary. So not only it does not look good, but the skin is also choked, which always accelerate aging. To understand what I mean, just put as much foundation on the leaves of a green plant and see how it likes it.
So, please, only use natural and organic make-up and use it wisely with a light hand. Make-up is an art and if not used wisely, the results are catastrophic in terms of beauty.
Try Best Home Remedies! To Protect Your Skin During Extreme Winter Season
The Worst Skin Enemy: the Cold Season:-
We are exactly in mid-winter as we've just passed Ground Hog Day and we're supposed to get 6 more weeks of cold weather because the little critter saw its shadow. All over the news, TV, the Internet and doctors' offices, you see and hear that the sun is the worst enemy of your skin. But where do you learn about the harms of the cold season, the second worst enemy of your skin as far as aging? Here are 7 winter mistakes that you ought to avoid if you want to protect your skin from damages and aging.
During winter, your skin will get dry, flaky, and chapped. This can make you feel uncomfortable and itchy, but there are many practical ways to protect your skin during winter.
1. Cover your skin, head to toe:
It’s your natural instinct to bundle up, but don’t just pile on the layers. Make sure your skin is completely covered. Wear gloves on your hands preferably waterproof, if you live in a snowy climate. Wrap a scarf around your neck and protect any of your chest that isn’t covered by your coat. A hat pulled low will keep your ears warm, as well as protect your hair from wind and cold.
2. Don’t wash your hair every day:
It seems counter-intuitive, but you need to stop washing your hair every day. Shampooing your hair actually strips it of natural oils that keep your scalp healthy and moisturized. If you wash your hair every day, or almost every day, stopping might make your scalp overproduce this oil, so it might feel greasy for a little bit. Soon enough, your scalp will realize that it’s not being stripped of the oil and adapt to being washed every few days.
3. Protect your hair when you do wash:
People think about keeping skin moist in cold weather, but rarely does anyone think about their hair. During the winter, your hair will get dry, which makes it brittle and susceptible to damage. For these few months, change to a shampoo that will provide more moisture than what you usually use, as long as it’s still healthy for your hair. Also look for a shampoo or hot oil treatment that will heal your hair, if it’s already been exposed to the cold and wind.
4. Change you skin care routine to provide more moisture:
The moisture from your skin evaporates quickly in the cold and wind of winter months, and your skin is producing less natural oil as well. Use a thicker, heavier moisturizer than you do in warmer seasons, as long as it is still good for your skin.
Any change in your skin care regimen might cause you to break out initially until your skin gets used to it, so be aware that there’s an adjustment period before you give up on a certain product. Make sure you’re applying this new lotion as soon as you get out of the shower to lock in moisture, and wash it off with warm water every night to give your skin a chance to breathe.
5. Use sunscreen:
Sounds silly, doesn’t it? Who applies sunscreen before bundling up in a coat and mittens? You should! Though it may not be warming you up as it does in summer, don’t think the sun isn’t just as dangerous. In fact, the sun glaring off ice and snow might cause even more harm. Apply sunscreen half an hour before you go outside to give it a chance to dry and not stick to your clothes, and reapply frequently if you’ll be in the sun for long.
6. Use hand lotion:
You use your hands for every task, all day, but it’s still so easy to forget that they need the most care. Often, you might not notice your hands need help until they’re chapped and cracked. Use a heavy moisturizing cream in the morning and evening, and apply lotion every time you wash your hands if you feel that soap and water dries them out too much. If you don’t want to get smears on your electronic screens or computer keyboards, make sure you find non-greasy lotion.
7. Prevent chapped lips:
You don’t realize how much you lick your lips until they start getting chapped! Use a moisturizing lip balm throughout the day to prevent this and keep your lips soft. Use it as part of your full body moisturizing routine, but also carry a tube with you to reapply as often as you need. If you’re going out in extreme cold, you can put a layer of Vaseline on top of your lip balm to keep the cold off of your lips even more.
8. Stay warm, not hot:
When you’re cold, you want to be hot it’s only natural! Who knew it was bad for you? Going from cold to hot will actually make your skin drier more quickly. If you stay warm, you’ll have a more even temperature, and it’ll be better for your skin. Using a humidifier instead of a space heater will also help infuse moisture into the air. Remember this rule for bathing as well, and use warm water for showers instead of hot. The hot water will cause skin irritation and strip moisture from your hair.
9. Avoid wet clothes:
Wear as many waterproof items of clothing as you can, including gloves, boots, and your coat. Once your clothes get wet, change out of them into something warm and dry. Staying in wet clothes will irritate your skin, and can cause itchiness and sores.
10. Stay hydrated:
You might want to sip hot coffee or cocoa, but it’s important to stay hydrated during colder weather. Avoid alcohol consumption, which dehydrates the body. Make sure you’re drinking your suggested eight glasses of water a day, which will not only help your body stay hydrated, but also your skin. Hydrated skin will be healthier, and combined with this moisturizing routine, your skin will look so great, you won’t even know it’s cold outside!
Delicious Raspberry Cream Cheese Pinwheel Pastries Recipe
Raspberries are one of the most delicious fruits ever, too bad that you can find them fresh in the market only for a short period. So take advantage, while there are still fresh raspberries out there to bake some delicious cakes and pastries.
Today you are going to learn how to make raspberry cheese pastries by following a few simple steps. First of all, the ingredients that you’ll need: sugar, cream cheese, lemon juice and zest, vanilla extract, puff pastry, fresh or frozen raspberries, raspberry jam, egg and a baking sheet. Cut the puff pastry into small rectangles and cut into the corners of rectangle as shown in the pictures.
Make a mixture out of the cream cheese and the other ingredients, leaving the raspberries and the jam outside. Place the mixture in the center of each rectangle and add the jam and the fresh raspberries. Cover the middle with the pastry as shown in the pictures and bake on a baking sheet. You will get a delicious and refreshingly light dessert to serve after your lunch.
Ingredients:
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 (17.3-ounce) package frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
1/2 cup raspberry jam
1 1/2 cups fresh raspberries
1 large egg
Sanding sugar (optional)
Directions:
*Preheat the oven to 400ºF and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or Silpats.
*In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest and vanilla to the bowl and beat until combined. Set aside.
*Roll out each sheet of thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured work surface until it is a 10-inch square. Cut each square into four smaller squares then transfer the squares to the prepared baking sheets so that they aren't touching one another.
*Using a fork, prick the pastries all over then place a dollop of the cream cheese mixture (about 1 1/2 tablespoons) into the center of each square, spreading it slightly into a small circle. Place a dollop of raspberry jam atop the cream cheese, and then place 3 to 4 raspberries on top of the jam.
*Using a sharp knife, make four cuts from the center toward the edge of each square. (Do not cut underneath where the cream cheese is.) Fold one corner from each piece you've cut into the center, pressing it lightly atop the raspberries. Repeat the cutting and folding process with the remaining pastries.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg with 1 tablespoon water. Brush each pinwheel all over with the egg wash. Sprinkle the exposed pastry with the sanding sugar (optional).
Bake the pastries for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed around the edges.

Effective Home Remedies For Warts
Warts are small, skin-colored, coarse lumps on the skin. Warts are caused by virus called human papilloma virus (HPV). Warts are generally harmless, but they can look nasty.
Warts are not painful, although verrucas can sometimes hurt. Warts normally take place on the hands or fingers or near the fingernails. Warts normally appear gradually and are generally painless.
Warts possibly are passed from person to person, sometimes not directly. Warts often vanish without treatment over a period of several months to years. Warts will treat on their own, given long sufficient, but this may take years.
Warts are identified by their appearance during a physical examination. Warts are treated with ways that destroy the wart.
Home Remedies for Warts:
1) Fresh Aloe vera juice is applied straightly to dissolve warts and tone the skin.
2) The fresh plant, sap (figs) or concentrate (papain) can be applied; any of these can be taped to the skin for numerous hours. Apply the juice from fig stems and leaves to the warts as this acts as good.
3) Milkweed a weed that is found normally in North America; the fresh milky sap of the leaf or stem is applied straightly to warts once a day.
4) Onions are also useful in warts. They are irritating to the skin and rouse the circulation of the blood. Warts occasionally disappear when rubbed with cut onions.
5) The herb Indian squill is helpful in removing warts. A powder of the bulb of this herb should be applied locally over the affected area for superior results. This is one of the good Home Remedy for Warts.
6) The herb dandelion is valuable Home Remedy for Warts. The milk from the cut end of dandelion should be applied over the infected area two or three time's daily.
7) The oil removed from the shell of the cashew nut is also useful in warts as it is a powerful irritant to the skin. It should be applied outwardly over the affected area in treating this state.
8) Marigold is another herb found beneficial in the warts removal. The juice of the leaves of this plant can be applied over warts. The sap from the stem has also been found useful in the removal of warts. This is another effective Home Remedy for Warts.
9) Apply fresh cut pineapple to affected areas several times daily.
10) Raw potatoes are also helpful in the treatment of warts. A potato should be cut and massaged on the affected area several times daily. This should be repeated for at least two weeks for warts removal. This is also effective Home Remedy for Warts.
11) Rub crushed garlic on the wart 2-3 times daily until the wart fades away in 3-4 weeks. You can also crush a garlic clove so it is pulpy and moist. Cover the wart with this pulp. Leave it for overnight. Wart will begin disappearing from the first night.
