Some Awsome Skin Care Tips For Men

Some Awsome Skin Care Tips For Men

Some say women are the more sensitive than men, and it’s definitely true when it comes to your face.
Dee Anna Glaser, MD, professor of dermatology at Saint Louis University, says, “Men’s facial skin is typically thicker than women’s and less likely to be sensitive to ingredients in facial cleansers and moisturizers.” Skincare is also usually a simpler routine since men typically don’t wear makeup.

But shaving is another story. For men with heavy beards or curly or kinky hair, irritation and razor bumps can be a big problem. With proper face care, though, those hazards can be made a thing of the past and a clean, smooth face can become a welcome daily occurrence.

As a guy, you may have been taught that washing your face with a bar of soap and scrubbing it dry are the only steps you need to take to care for your face. Taking care of your face doesn't have to be a big ordeal, but adding a few more steps to your routine can make a big difference if you want healthy-looking skin. Cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and shaving will leave your skin looking and feeling great.

skin care tips for men. You might feel that so far I’ve overlooked 50 percent of our population but I say: no way! My beauty tips are for men and women alike. Okay, most men might not wear make up or grow their hair past their shoulders but that doesn’t mean the majority of my skin care tips don’t apply. To demonstrate, here are five things men can do to make sure their skin remains in tip-top condition whatever their age.

For decades, skin care products were thought of as something that only women used. My own father had his unique regimen that included washing his face with a bar of hand soap and covering his shaving nicks with tiny bits of toilet paper. Well, those days are OVER gentlemen! A healthy skin care regimen is just as important for men as it is women. But let’s face it- many men prefer a fuss free approach to skin care that is quick and easy to follow. So let’s break it down into an easy five step program to help all men reap the rewards of good skin care.

5 steps towards healthy, handsome skin:-

1.cleansing:
If you can’t find the time to do anything else – cleansing your skin is a must! Don’t worry guys; cleansing is just a fancy word for washing your face. This should be done every morning and every evening before bedtime. Just because you can’t see the dirt and grime on your skin, doesn’t mean that it isn’t there.

Think about what you are exposed to on a daily basis: pollution, car exhaust, cigarette smoke, even room deodorizers. All of these little particles can land on your skin and cause damage so they must be washed away. However, this doesn’t mean that you can reach for that withered old bar soap. Ordinary soaps tend to be loaded with detergents and deodorizers and can be very harsh and dehydrating to the skin. A good facial cleanser is what you need.

Men tend to have skin that is a bit oilier then women’s so find a cleanser that targets normal to oily skin for the best results. Remember, if you don’t cleanse your skin on a daily basis; the excess grime and oil could leave you with clogged pores and breakouts.

2.Exfoliate
Men, if you really want to see and feel a difference in your skin this next step is for you. Exfoliation is the process of removing the dead skin cells from the surface to reveal the new skin cells beneath. Think of an exfoliating scrub the same way you would a piece of light grade sandpaper.

A few swipes on a jagged piece of wood and voila, you are left with a soft, smooth surface that looks like a brand new piece of wood. Our skin exfoliates naturally but, as we get older ,the process of exfoliation starts to slow down and we need to help it along. Exfoliation can also help clean out the yucky stuff that can get lodged in your pores.

Choose an exfoliant that contains scrubby particles to help smooth the skin and eliminate dullness. The bonus of using an exfoliant is that it will also help soften your hair follicles which can result in a closer, less irritating shave. And the best part? This is a product that you only need to use a few times a week.

3.Moisturize
Moisturizers can make a world of difference in the appearance of a man’s skin. In fact, men tend to need moisturizer even more than most women do. This is because most men shave their faces. Every time you scrape that razor across your skin, you aren’t only removing facial hair but you are also removing necessary oils from your skin.

Then what do you do? You probably slap on some alcohol-based aftershave lotion that burns the heck out of your skin. The alcohol then further dehydrates the skin. So what do you need to combat this? Moisturizer! A moisturizer will help to replenish your skin’s moisture content and will help prevent razor burn. Choose a moisturizer that contains SPF to help protect you from ordinary exposure to the sun’s damaging rays. Unprotected sun exposure can lead to pre-mature aging, fine lines, wrinkles and worst of all, skin cancer.

4.Eyes
One of the very first places we start to notice the signs of aging is around the eyes. And unfortunately, this is the very place that many men tend to neglect. The skin around our eyes lacks in both sweat and oil glands making it highly susceptible to dehydration which can show itself as fine lines and wrinkles.

The super soft, very thin layer of skin that surrounds our eyes can develop little expression lines that may grow into unsightly wrinkles quickly. So what should you do? Pick up a hydrating eye cream right away. All you need is a little dab of product under and around each eye to do the trick. It will help hydrate, smooth and protect your skin every day. Apply your eye cream every morning and every evening before bedtime and after cleansing.

5.Lips
Believe it or not, our lips age drastically with time. Take a look at a picture of yourself when you were a young child. Your lips were plump and there were no lines. Unfortunately, as we age our lips lose collagen and they start to melt right in with the rest of our face.

Women can take advantage of lip liners, lip stick and lip glosses but many men draw the line at this! If you look at your lips in the mirror you will see fine lines and wrinkles running in all different directions. Our lips, like the skin around our eyes, also lack in sweat and oil glands.

They do not have the same protective layer of skin called the stratum corneum that we have elsewhere on our bodies for added protection. And, because they also lack in melanin they lose that extra protection against the sun’s UV rays. Our lips desperately need our help. Men, grab a lip balm, preferably with SPF and as I always say; apply, apply and reapply throughout the day.

Sunscreen Protection for Men:
Lots of facial moisturizers promise to keep your face young, but not all of them deliver.
“A lot of products these days tout the fact that they contain antioxidants,” Glaser says. “Theoretically, they should help. Sunlight and pollution cause oxidative damage to skin. But so far, we don’t have any scientific evidence one way or the other that says antioxidants at the level contained in skin products really help.”

Prescription-strength products with retinol (Retin-A) do smooth out fine lines and wrinkles and even reverse signs of aging at the cellular level. But the lower levels of retinol found in over-the-counter products may not be high enough to do much good.

See gentlemen, it’s really that simple! And the best part is that if you incorporate these five simple steps into your daily regimen, you will definitely notice a difference in your appearance. It’s a fuss free way towards healthy, handsome skin.

You Know How to Give Home Facial ?

You Know How to Give Home Facial ?

A facial is a procedure involving a variety of skin treatments, including: steam, exfoliation, extraction, creams, lotions, facial masks, peels, and massage. They are normally performed in beauty salons but are also a common spa treatment.

There are different kinds of masks for different purposes: deep-cleansing, by penetrating the pores; healingacne scars or hyper-pigmentation; brightening, for a gradual illumination of the skin tone. Some masks are designed to dry or solidify on the face, almost like plaster; others just remain wet. The perceived effects of a facial mask treatment include revitalizing, healing, or refreshing; and, may yield temporary or long-term benefits.

Steps:-

1.Wash your hands thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap and hot water. Bacteria and/or dirt on your hands blocks pores, causing spots.

2.Using a ponytail holder, tie back long hair and pull hair back from the face using a headband.

3.Wash your face using a mild cleanser. For dry skin, a gentle cleanser. For oilier skin, any oil free blackhead eliminating wash is recommended. Thoroughly rinse the face, leaving no traces of cleanser.

4.Use an exfoliating scrub in a circular motion on your face and neck, but avoiding the eye area (nothing south of the eyebrow or north of the eye socket). Rinse the skin thoroughly with a soft, clean wash cloth and warm water.

5.Pat face dry with a clean towel.

6.Apply a facial mask and leave on for about 10 minutes.

7.Wash off the mask with warm water and a wash cloth.

8.Apply an alcohol free toner to a cotton ball and wipe on face, especially to the t-zone.

9.Apply a moisturizer and you should feel clean and smooth and have a nice glow to your skin.

10.Repeat this facial weekly, but wash your face twice daily.

11.During a professional facial, the aesthetician trains a small steam machine on the client’s face for five to ten minutes in order to open the pores for deep cleaning and extractions. You can achieve the same result at home. Start with a large clean pot. The opening of the pot should be larger in width than your face. Wash your hands and face and pour about 2 cups of distilled water in the pot. You can pick up distilled water at any local drug store.

12.Bring the 2 cups of water to a rolling boil and shut off stove. Keep your face about 12 inches from the top of the pot (use a stool to stand on if needed). Do not put your face into the pot. Also, never “tent” your face with a towel. This can actually cause your skin to burn. The steam needs to flow freely. If not, this can actually slightly burn the skin. Steam no more, and no less, then 10 minutes.

13.Wipe the skin gently with an astringent, when the pores are open. It is advisable to use an astringent with no alcohol, especially for those with sensitive skin.

14.Moisten the face with lukewarm water. Take your daily cleanser for your specific skin type and cleanse skin with a gentle circular motion for about 1 minute. Rinse.

15.Extract gently any white/blackheads or pimples. The steaming process makes this easier and less damaging to the skin. If a pimple does not extract easily, do not force it as this can irritate it and possibly damage the skin. It is simply not ready to be extracted.

16.Wipe skin again with the astringent and use an exfoliating cleanser with natural AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) on moist face. Exfoliate with gentle circular motion for 2 minutes. Rinse skin with lukewarm water.

17.Pat skin gently. This is when you will apply a masque. Leave on for about 10-15 minutes. During this time, you may want to lie down and put relaxing music on. Take deep, relaxing breaths as you would during meditation or yoga.

18.Remove masque with a moist cotton washcloth. Rinse skin by splashing distilled water on face. The distilled water should be at room temperature.

19.Take a clean cotton wash cloth and dampen it with cool water. Lay down and cover your face with this and apply gentle pressure. Leave on for about 5 minutes. This will help to close pores.

20.Whatever your skin type, a peel off mask can work wonders at drawing out impurities, minimizing pores temporarily, sloughing off dead skin, and moisturizing.

21.Apply anti-aging treatment and moisturizer. If heading outdoors, use a sunscreen that does not clog pores.

Tips:-

In the steaming hot water you can place mint or lemon to refresh your face and clear your sinuses.

You should at least give yourself a facial once every week.

For dry skin use a gel mask or a cream mask.

For oily skin, try a mud mask or a clay mask.

After removing the mask you can splash your face with cold water or submerge your face in a bowl with cold water.

Warnings:-

Do not do this every single day only once a week because remember it is a facial not a daily routine.

Do not submerge your head in the steaming hot water it is only used to keep a comfortable distance away from your face to flush your face out.

Amazing Ways to Prevent Acne in the Rainy Season

Amazing Ways to Prevent Acne in the Rainy Season

Freckles appear on the skin as small tan or light brown spots. While they usually appear on the face, they can also be found on any skin exposed to the Sun, such as the neck and shoulders.

Freckles are natural and not harmful. Even though some people with freckles don't like them and want to get rid of them, they're certainly not a sign of any health problems.

Freckles are just skin cells that contain a pigment (color) called "melanin." melanin is a chemical made by skin cells called "melanocytes." melanin helps to protect the skin from the Sun's harmful ultraviolet rays by reflecting or absorbing them.

Freckles are triggered by exposure to sunlight. The Sun's ultraviolet radiation causes melanocytes to make more melanin, which can cause freckles to appear or become darker.

While anyone can have freckles, they are genetic. So if your parents have freckles, there's a good chance you will, too. People with fair complexions (skin and eyes that are light in color) tend to have more freckles than people with darker complexions.

The melanin in your skin is what makes you look tan. The more melanin you have in your skin, the easier it is to get a tan.

People with fair complexions have less melanin in their skin to start with. When sunlight causes their melanocytes to make more melanin, they often develop freckles instead of getting an even suntan like people with darker complexions.

Some people have freckles that fade away in the winter and return every summer. Other people have freckles year-round. Freckles often tend to fade when people get older.

Learning about Breathing and Its Advantages

How to Do Deep Breathing and Its Advantages

It is thought by many cultures that the process of breathing is the essence of being. A rhythmic process of expansion and contraction, breathing is one example of the consistent polarity we see in nature such as night and day, wake and sleep, seasonal growth and decay and ultimately life and death.

Unlike other bodily functions, the breath is easily used to communicate between these systems, which gives us an excellent tool to help facilitate positive change. It is the only bodily function that we do both voluntarily and involuntarily.

We can consciously use breathing to influence the involuntary (sympathetic nervous system) that regulates blood pressure, heart rate, circulation, digestion and many other bodily functions. Breathing exercises can act as a bridge into those functions of the body of which we generally do not have conscious control.

During times of emotional stress our sympathetic nervous system is stimulated and effects a number of physical responses. Our heart rate rises, we perspire, our muscles tense and our breathing becomes rapid and shallow. If this process happens over a long period of time, the sympathic nervous system becomes over stimulated leading to an imbalance that can effect our physical health resulting in inflammation, high blood pressure and muscle pain to name a few.

Consciously slowing our heart rate, decreasing perspiration and relaxing muscles is more difficult than simply slowing and deepening breathing. The breath can be used to directly influence these stressful changes causing a direct stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system resulting in relaxation and a reversal of the changes seen with the stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system. We can see how our bodies know to do this naturally when we take a deep breath or sigh when a stress is relieved.

The breathing process can be trained
Breathing can be trained for both positive and negative influences on health. Chronic stress can lead to a restriction of the connective and muscular tissue in the chest resulting in a decrease range of motion of the chest wall. Due to rapid more shallow breathing, the chest does not expand as much as it would with slower deeper breaths and much of the air exchange occurs at the top of the lung tissue towards the head. This results in “chest” breathing. You can see if you are a chest breather by placing your right hand on your chest and your left hand on your abdomen. As you breathe, see which hand rises more. If your right hand rises more, you are a chest breather. If your left hand rises more, you are an abdomen breather.

Chest breathing is inefficient because the greatest amount of blood flow occurs in the lower lobes of the lungs, areas that have limited air expansion in chest breathers. Rapid, shallow, chest breathing results in less oxygen transfer to the blood and subsequent poor delivery of nutrients to the tissues. The good news is that similar to learning to play an instrument or riding a bike, you can train the body to improve its breathing technique. With regular practice you will breathe from the abdomen most of the time, even while asleep.

Note: Using and learning proper breathing techniques is one of the most beneficial things that can be done for both short and long term physical and emotional health.

The benefits of abdominal breathing
Abdominal breathing is also known as diaphragmatic breathing. The diaphragm is a large muscle located between the chest and the abdomen. When it contracts it is forced downward causing the abdomen to expand.

This causes a negative pressure within the chest forcing air into the lungs. The negative pressure also pulls blood into the chest improving the venous return to the heart. This leads to improved stamina in both disease and athletic activity. Like blood, the flow of lymph, which is rich in immune cells, is also improved.

By expanding the lung’s air pockets and improving the flow of blood and lymph, abdominal breathing also helps prevent infection of the lung and other tissues. But most of all it is an excellent tool to stimulate the relaxation response that results in less tension and an overall sense of well being.

Most of us pay no attention to how we are breathing. It’s just something our body does automatically. But often our breathing is too shallow, which is not good for our health.

Deep breathing should be a part of your everyday life. It will help you live longer as well as make you happier, more productive and energetic.

Proper breathing should be deep, slow, rhythmic and done through the nose, not the mouth. In addition, you must try to breathe deeply into your abdomen, not just your chest.

Deep breaths should last 3 to 5 seconds breathing in and 3 to 5 seconds breathing out.

Deep breathing is also known as diaphragmatic breathing, abdominal breathing, belly breathing and paced respiration.

A good thing about this is that you can do it anywhere at any time and it doesn’t cost anything! Even a short session of 10 minutes of deep breathing 2 or 3 times a day will have a huge impact on your physical and mental health.

With a little effort, deep breathing can become an easy and unconscious part of your daily life. Initially, you need to focus on your breath and soon you will start breathing deeper without having to think about it at all.

Using breathing exercises to increase energy
If practiced over time, the abdominal breathing exercise can result in improved energy throughout the day, but sometimes we are in need of a quick “pick-up.” The Bellows breathing exercise (also called, the stimulating breath) can be used during times of fatigue that may result from driving over distances or when you need to be revitalized at work.

It should not be used in place of abdominal breathing but in addition as a tool to increase energy when needed. This breathing exercise is opposite that of abdominal breathing. Short, fast rhythmic breaths are used to increase energy, which are similar to the “chest” breathing we do when under stress.

The bellows breath recreates the adrenal stimulation that occurs with stress and results in the release of energizing chemicals such as epinephrine. Like most bodily functions this serves an active purpose, but overuse results in adverse effects as discussed above.

How to Do Deep Breathing
Deep breathing is very easy to do and you can learn it easily. To perform it:

-Lie down on your back in a comfortable place free from any kind of distraction.

-Put your hands on your abdomen (to feel your way through the exercise) and try to relax your muscles.

-Inhale deeply through your nose, expanding your abdomen and then filling your lungs with air. Count slowly to 5 as you inhale.

-Hold your breath and count to 3.

-Exhale slowly through your mouth and empty your lungs completely. Again, count slowly to 5 as you exhale and try to release any tension from your muscles.

-Continue to inhale and exhale deeply for 5 to 10 minutes.

-Perform this exercise once in the morning and again before going to bed.
Laying down at the beginning is best but you can also do this while sitting. Try to practice once or twice a day, always at the same time, in order to establish a habit.

You can also watch this video to help understand the procedure of diaphragmatic breathing.

1. Reduces Stress
Deep breathing can reduce stress levels as well as help ease anxiety and tension. When you breathe deeply, it sends a message to your brain to calm down and relax.

The brain then sends the same message to your body. It is important to manage stress, as it is a leading cause of health problems, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, strokes and more.

According to a preliminary study done in Spain in 2010, controlled breathing therapy helps reduce the level of the stress-induced hormone called cortisol. This in turn reduces stress.

The next time you are under stress, don’t sit in front of a television or start eating junk foods. Instead, go to a quiet place and take some deep breaths.

2. Detoxifies the Body
The lungs play an important role in eliminating toxins and waste products from the body. However, shallow breathing makes the lungs work harder to expel the waste.

Due the accumulation of toxins, you can suffer from health problems like inflammation, fatigue, weight gain, muscle loss, and high blood pressure.

By performing deep breathing, you can enhance the efficiency of your lungs. It will improve the overall functionality of your lymphatic system, which in turn will encourage the release of harmful toxins. It will also help pump the cleansed blood throughout the body.

3. Improves Lung Functionality
It also strengthens the lungs. Diaphragmatic breathing plays a key role in expanding the lung tissues made up of several air sacs (alveolar sacs). This improves the functionality of your lungs. It can help prevent pneumonia and other post-operative complications.

Deep breathing feeds more oxygen to every cell in the body. Without sufficient oxygen, people are more prone to lung problems and even heart disease.

It is even beneficial to people who are susceptible to pulmonary or respiratory problems. When done daily for 10 minutes, it will help reduce respiratory difficulties like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, and even chest pain.

4. Aids Weight Loss
A structured, deep breathing pattern can even help you lose weight. As more oxygen reaches your body through deep breathing, it helps burn up excess fat more efficiently.

According to research reported at the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Annual Conference on Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention in 2005, a structured yoga and breathing program decreases body mass index (BMI) among obese teens.

As this breathing exercise concentrates on the abdominal region, it causes changes in blood flow to different regions of the brain and changes in metabolic activities of the brain.

Plus, when more oxygen reaches fat molecules (made up of oxygen, carbon and hydrogen) through deep breathing, it breaks them down into carbon dioxide and water.

Further, by stimulating your lymphatic system, your body gets rid of these waste products. Therefore, more oxygen means the more fat you will burn.

5. Helps You Sleep Better
If you are having difficulty getting sound sleep at night, definitely try deep breathing. This simple exercise serves two purposes.

First, it helps calm the central nervous system so that you feel more relaxed. Secondly, it works as a meditation to quiet the mind. Once your mind is calm and clear, you will surely enjoy sound sleep.

While deep breathing works well on its own, it becomes more effective when combined with other relaxation techniques like a warm bath before going to bed or enjoying some soft music.

Close your eyes and do deep breathing for 10 minutes before going to bed.

6. Lowers Blood Pressure
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a growing health problem. Several factors cause it, such as high sodium intake, obesity, lack of physical activity and smoking. Fortunately, you can manage high blood pressure with deep breathing.

A 2005 study published in the AHA Journal found that slow breathing improves arterial baroreflex sensitivity and reduces blood pressure in essential hypertension.

First, deep breathing triggers relaxation by reinforcing and activating the parasympathetic system. Secondly, it helps break down salt so that your body can rid of it easily.

Practice belly breathing for 10 minutes 2 or 3 times a day to manage your blood pressure and keep your heart healthy.

7. Relieves Pain
When you are in pain, the instant reaction is to hold your breath and then exhale to release the pain. Well, you can surely try slow, deep belly breathing to ease pain.

It releases endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good painkillers. It even alters your psychological state that also helps manage pain.

It also reduces the acidity level of the body, making it more alkaline. An alkaline body can control pain more easily than an acidic body.

Slow breathing also has a direct effect on the sympathetic nervous system, which helps control blood flow and skin temperature. This in turn can block pain.

8. Prevents Motion Sickness
Many people tend to get motion sickness on a moving boat, train, airplane, car or amusement park ride. You can stop motion sickness using deep breathing.

Slow, deep breathing prevents the symptoms of motion sickness, according to a 1999 study published in the Aviation Space and Environmental Medicine journal.

This non-pharmacological procedure increases parasympathetic nervous system activity that helps reduce symptoms of motion sickness. On the other hand, rapid and shallow breathing often makes symptoms worse.

To ease motion sickness, close your eyes and practice controlled, slow, deep breathing.

9. Improves Digestion
If you are suffering from poor digestion, bloating or constipation, you can try short sessions of belly breathing to get rid of the discomforts.

Slow, deep breaths increase blood flow to the digestive tract. This encourages intestinal action so that proper digestion takes place. It also has a calming effect on the nervous system, which also enhances optimal digestion.

In addition, when you breathe into your lower abdomen, it encourages regular bowel movements. People can experience this benefit right away and be free from constipation.

10. Makes You Energetic
Deeper inhales and exhales may be the easiest route to boost your energy level. Taking deeper breaths improves the oxygen and blood circulation in your body.

This improves your energy level and stamina. On the other hand, incorrect breathing reduces your productivity levels as it makes you slow and sluggish.

The higher oxygen content of the blood after deep breathing also helps you sleep better and reduce stress. These factors have a direct impact on your energy and productivity. It can even provide more energy to your body to heal and detoxify as well as boost your immune system.

Start your day with a 10-minute session of deep breathing to keep yourself energetic throughout the day.

Addition Tips for Deep Breathing

-When doing this simple breathing exercise, your abdomen should rise and fall noticeably during the whole process.

-You can even use white noise, relaxing music or the sound of rain to help you relax for deep breathing exercises.

-Post sticky notes around your home or office as reminders to make deep breathing a part of your daily life.

-You can do this exercise while driving to the office or any other place. Also, it’s great to do while you are on the computer, walking or watching television.
